Project Coordinator, OVC Support Program Job: The Grassroots Alliance for Community Education (G.R.A.C.E. Africa)

The Grassroots Alliance for Community Education (G.R.A.C.E. Africa) is a nonprofit organization working with communities in sub-Saharan Africa to mitigate the effects of HIV/AIDS.

G.R.A.C.E. helps networks of African community-based organizations (CBOs), People Living with HIV/AIDS (PLHA), and youth deliver household-focused prevention and care, early childhood development, nutritional, agricultural, and economic improvements for sustainable communities.

Position: Project Coordinator, OVC Support Program

Reports To: Deputy Director, G.R.A.C.E. Africa

Duties and Responsibilities:

The Project Coordinator will work on the OVC Support Project. Specifically, the Coordinator will:

Serve as the primary contact between GRACE and all of the 19 sub-partners – 4 organizational development and training sub-partners and 15 Early Childhood Development (ECD) sub-partners
Coordinate master calendar of all training and other activities conducted by the 4 OD sub-partners for the 15 ECD sub-partners
Keep the sub-partners informed about all PEPFAR- related requirements and activities.
Provide technical assistance to the 15 ECD sub-partners
Work with GRACE staff and sub-partners to ensure that all ECD sub-partners meet the Kenya Ministry of Education standards for ECD
Ensure compliance with all data collection and reporting requirements.
Coordinate all ECD program activities in 15 ECD centers including coordinating regular data collection from the project beneficiaries.
Recruit and develop job descriptions for the teachers, and the two staff to be based at the CBO level (and ensuring they perform their duties, including home visits)
Ensure that the all cases requiring referral are referred and all referrals are tracked (in collaboration with the OVC project manager)
Manage the ECD teachers.
Review, with the M&E staff, the quality and timeliness of data collected by the sub-partners and help design corrective actions where needed
Ensure that all data needed from the sub-partners for the reports to U.S. government and its agents is submitted timely and completely
Review scholarship applications submitted by OVCs for teacher training and advise the GRACE staff and CBOs
Provide support as needed to the sub-partners
Prepare internal and external reports as needed, in conjunction with other GRACE staff
Work closely with other GRACE staff involved in various components of the OVC Support Program
Qualifications:

At least 3 years experience that includes project coordination and management
Data quality and analysis
Oral and written communication skills
Ability to write reports
Work with local communities, preferably in health and social services
B. Sc. in social sciences. A postgraduate diploma in Early Childhood Care and Development will be an added advantage.
Experience in coordination of OVC projects will be an added advantage.
Experience using CSI tool
Strong written, communication and organizational skills
Strong motivation and leadership skills, ability to multi-task in a dynamic working environment;
self-motivated personality; ability to work independently and as a team player
Strong computer skills (including MS Excel and WORD)
Terms of Employment:

Full time salaried position
Salary will be commensurate with education and experience.
