Strategic Partnerships Adviser

The Secretariat has a Strategic Partnerships Committee which oversees the development and maintenance of strategic partnerships with other international organisations to secure additional funding and assistance.

The sole member of the Secretary-General’s Office permanently dedicated to this work, you will act as a political and development partner and focal point for promoting the goals and values of the Commonwealth as well as the implementation of practical, results-oriented linkages with other organisations, governments, the private sector and the third sector.

With a degree in public administration or international relations, you must have significant experience of providing strategic advice and managing projects and partnerships in a politically sensitive governmental or international context.

Political Affairs

Adviser Europe & Asia Our Political Affairs Division leads the promotion of democracy and good governance in the Commonwealth and provides the Secretary-General with advice and support on political issues many of which are highly sensitive.

Reporting to the Head of the Europe and Asia Section of our Political Affairs Division, you will monitor developments in Commonwealth countries within the region; provide policy advice and other support; and help to organise important meetings among government ministers.

With a relevant degree and good experience in the field of international affairs, you must have knowledge of the Europe and Asia regions gained in and international or government department.

HR Advisers (3 posts)

Our Human Resources function is the principal technical advisor to senior management and the Secretariat on all HR matters. It operates as a strategic business partner, policy adviser, change agent and employees’ advocate in order to deliver the highest standards of HR professionalism.

The Human Resources Advisers support the Head of HR in providing effective HR services by supporting Directors and Line Managers in their staff management strategy, HR policy development, resourcing & contract administration, performance management and staff development & training.

With a degree in HR or related field and professional HR qualifications, you must have progressively responsible experience in human resource management and an understanding of cutting edge HR policies and best practice.

All positions are based in our central London offices in Pall Mall and all candidates must be able to operate effectively in our multi-cultural setting and be a national of a Commonwealth country.
