Policy paper on the benefits and advantages of applying the Human-Rights Based Approach in EU New Member States (NMS) development policy

Minority Rights Group Europe (MRG), a Budapest-based non-governmental organisation has recently begun the implementation of a 2-year EC-funded programme, aimed at increasing the awareness among key development actors and decision makers in target countries of the relationship between human rights and development and of the importance and benefits of the human rights based approach to development in designing and implementing effective development policies. The project also aims to develop an exchange of knowledge, experience and practice amongst NMS states that will contribute to the more effective preparation of upcoming EU presidencies held by NMS governments and the involvement of NGOs on issues relating to European Development Policy.
