Head, Communications Unit

SUDIA invites applications from suitable candidates for the position of Head, Communications Unit. The appointment will be made on short-term basis for a period of eleven (10) months initially but renewable upon satisfactory performance and availability of funds.

Under the direct control, guidance of and in coordination with the Executive Director, the Head, Communications Unit will be responsible for establishing the Communications Unit at SUDIA endowed with developing and implementing a communication strategy, standards and practices in line with the organizations Strategic Plan. The incumbent will ensure internal and external communications deliver consistent messages and share a unified look; oversee the writing of press releases, annual report, newsletter, and other related materials as well as manage media relations; lead agencies and internal team members where appropriate to execute communications activities and public relations; work with project managers to develop communication strategies to disseminate project results and research findings. Cultural sensitivity and strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills will be necessary for success.

Salary range: SDG 60,000 - 75,000 per annum (consolidated)

REQUIREMENTS

- Bachelor’s/Masters degree in Communications, Journalism or related field;
- Minimum 3 years related experience in communications and public relations preferably the non-profit sector;
- Strong project management skills with demonstrated ability to multi-task on set priorities within timelines;
- Highly develop strategy planning skills;
- Understanding of branding principles and tactics through multimedia including the web;
- Excellent writing, editing, visual arts and communication skills coupled with highly developed interpersonal skills.
- Proficient in Arabic and English Languages.
