Assistant Director, Corporate Finance


Reporting to the Director Finance, the incumbent will be responsible for the finance function in IATA, Montreal, including accounting and monthly closing of the Montreal reporting units, compliance to IATA's FPPM (Financial Policy and Procedures Manual) and budget and forecast of the finance sections in Montreal.


Lead, motivate and develop the finance team in Montreal;
Manage month-end closing process in Montreal;
Responsible for the review of balance sheet binders and follow-up of open items;
Responsible for the financial approval of Purchase Orders and Contracts in the SAP system, as per the Financial Procedures and Policy Manual;
Responsible for the bi-monthly payroll;
Responsible for Finance Risk Assessment;
Prepare quarterly forecast and annual budget;
Determine the proper accounting for, and prepare accounting position papers on, new transactions;
Provide business with accounting advice especially in the area of revenue recognition;
Support operations staff in Montreal with finance process issues/ process improvement;
Participate in numerous working groups as Corporate Finance representative; and
Organize the preparation of the year-end statutory audit.


University degree in Finance or Business Administration; Postgraduate education and/or a professional certification in Accounting will be a clear advantage;
At least 10 years’ experience in accounting functions, of which at least 5 with people management responsibilities;
Excellent organizational skills, coupled with the abilities to work to tight deadlines and to multi-task;
Excellent oral and written communication skills in English; other languages will be an advantage;
Good working knowledge of SAP is an asset; and
Excellent PC skills, particularly working knowledge of MS Office.
