Our client, the Research Department of a prestigious financial institution located in Barcelona, Spain seeks an Economist or Senior Economist to join its European Unit. The mission of this role will be to follow both the European and Spanish economies as well as to analyse economic policies that could have key implications for the Group.
Functions & Responsibilities
- Collaboration in the analysis of the Spanish and European Economy and participation in the elaboration of forecasts
- In-depth analysis of economic policy or other key elements affecting the Spanish and European economies and the financial system
- Preparation of country or sector reports of interest to the Group
- Support to the Executive Board, including the preparation of macroeconomic and financial information for Board meetings
- Elaboration of research reports on key issues relating to the Spanish and European economies
Requirements
- 2-4 years of proven experience in a similar role, preferably with involvement in activities with a high analytical component. International experience is essential
- Postgraduate studies in Economics (PhD or master level with a strong quantitative focus)
- Global economic vision and understanding of its implications for the banking sector
- Proficient written and oral communication in English and Spanish
- Excellent analytical capacity and ability to present information in a concise manner
- Ability to work in teams across different departments in the area
- Knowledge of macroeconomic theory and quantitative methods
- Specific knowledge of one of the following areas will be highly valued: Financial Markets, Banking Regulation, Financial Sector (National and International)
