Recovery Operations Manager British Red Cross

Overall Purpose of the Post

The post holder will be a core part of the disaster management team, with particular responsibility for managing BRC resources in response to programming within areas of recovery. The scope and scale of responsibilities, whilst subject to change as programmes develop and close, potentially includes responsibility for delivering multi million pound programmes via the ICRC, Federation or bilaterally with BRC field offices which may involve up to 100+ expatriate and national staff. This includes the provision and management of funds, personnel and technical support and ultimate delivery of the programme objectives. The post holder will also be the first point of contact for key donors and will be expected to provide accurate and informed quantitative and qualitative reporting. The post holder will be required to make regular management and monitoring visits to BRC recovery programmes.

The post holder will be expected to work with other key members of staff to ensure enhanced BRC understanding and implementation of recovery programming.

The post holder will be expected to work together with others in BRC to ensure that operational learning is shared, that practice informs policy and communications and that the standards and principles to which the BRC is committed are upheld.

The operations manager (Recovery) may be expected to provide surge capacity to the disaster management team during the first phase of a response and to deputise for the Disaster Response Manager during any absences at the request of the Head of Department.
