Donor Relations Consultant (Private Partnerships)

The World Food Programme (WFP) is the world's largest humanitarian agency, fighting hunger worldwide. We are currently seeking a Donor Relations Consultant (Private Partnerships) in our Liaison Office in London, UK.
The consultancy is for an initial period of 6 months with a possibility of renewal.
Start date: as soon as possible.
WFP relies entirely on voluntary contributions to finance its humanitarian and development projects.
Partners from the private sector support WFP projects in over 80% of the countries where we work; saving lives and reducing hunger across the globe.
Within delegated authority, the Donor Relations Consultant (Private Partnerships) will be responsible for the following duties: (These duties are generic and thus are not all-inclusive, nor are all duties carried out by all Private Partnerships Officers)
· To raise resources from the Private Sector (corporations, individuals, foundations, NGOs) for the program; solicit contributions; provide on-going donor stewardship, evaluate and assess partnership results.
· Prospect research; identify, analyze and use data to identify private sector entities that can help achieve WFP’s strategic objectives;
· Pipeline management of new partnership opportunities
· Management of a portfolio of current partnerships
· Forecast contributions
· Gather and analyze information about fundraising trends, regulations, and practices;
· Develop strategies to determine how to best secure and steward private sector donors by channel (individuals, corporate, foundation, NGO);
· Prepare proposals and sales presentations. Effectively “sell and market” WFP to private sector prospects;
· Coordinate with other units in house to ensure that proposed partnerships support the corporate strategic objectives and provide value;
· Negotiate contributions and partnership agreements;
· Provide donor stewardship through effective dissemination of information, communications support, and partnership reporting;
· Provide private sector resource mobilization expertise to technical units, Regional Bureaux and Country offices;
· Represent WFP and be able to advance WFP’s private sector strategy and objectives at international meetings and fora;
· Supervise staff as required providing training and technical guidance;
· Perform other related duties as required.

Requirements

Qualifications & Experience:
· At least eight years (of which 3 years international experience) of postgraduate progressively responsible professional experience in international development in a bilateral, multilateral or non-government food aid or other international development aid program; previous experience with fundraising, negotiations, public relations/advocacy and work experience within the private sector is an asset;
· Network of corporate contacts and relationships that can be mobilized to secure introductions and opportunities for WFP;
· Proven sales experience with specific, verifiable examples of selling and developing complex, integrated, global corporate partnerships;
· Experience in grassroots fundraising and knowledge of individual fundraising practices that can be applied to WFP’s work;
· Experience in grant writing and securing foundation funding.
Education requirement:
· Advanced University Degree or university degree with experience and advanced training/courses in one or more of the following disciplines: political science, international development, Development economics, marketing communications or other relevant field.
Language requirements
· Full proficiency in English is essential
