Trade Compliance and Logistics Manager
A new Product Area (PA) Sandvik Hyperion has been created within Sandvik Venture to be the home of a world-class hard and super-hard materials company. Currently, this New PA is being formed from the combination of Sandvik Hard Materials and Diamond Innovations. The new PA is currently seeking a Trade Compliance and Logistics Manager for the Worthington, OH location.
The role
Awareness and processes within trade compliance differ between regions and across Business Areas/Product Areas. The effect of this is that the maturity, responsibility and ultimately the risk differs between units and regions. The ambition is to, in accordance with One Sandvik to be number one, create synergies and global alignment through international management. This will be achieved by knowledge sharing and coordination of activities between regions and production units, which is one responsibility of the position. In addition this position will be responsible for creating a logical warehouse and distribution flow of all products and raw materials, produced and purchased by Sandvik Hyperion.
Key performance areas
The main responsibilities of the position will include:
Trade:
- Coordinate and ensure that customs and export/import control procedures within the BA comply with international trade regulations
- Act on requirements set from Group Trade Compliance and evaluate their impact on business goals
- Provide strategic and tactical management within the BA with a key focus on compliance risks and financial benefits
Logistics:
- Develop a global plan within Sandvik Hyperion to standardize product delivery to customers worldwide.
- It is anticipated that the end result will be cooperation with the global Sandvik distribution centers.
- Insure a rational flow of sold product and raw materials worldwide.
The main activities of the position will include:
Strategic
- Compliance Review and Project Planning with Sandvik Trade Compliance Team -To align goals and activities with Group common strategy and goals
- Project Planning with Management - To anchor trade compliance initiatives and align them with the overall strategy. To make s hipping logistics a critical part of business decisions
- Process Development - Create processes to increase compliance and best practice. Develop processes for logistics that meet business goals and serve the customer
- Process Improvement - Continuous improvements for higher efficiency
- Build and maintain a network of compliance contacts within the BA - To secure ownership and responsibility of trade compliance areas, and also to achieve knowledge sharing
Tactic
- Analysis of current way of working with trade compliance - Identify the most critical improvement areas and prioritize the way forward
- Analysis of current way of global shipping and distribution to customers - Identify the most critical improvement areas and prioritize the way forward
- Support in Process Implementation - To make sure that product shipping and trade compliance is taken into consideration in process changes and give support to facilitate the implementation process
- Compliance review and auditing -To verify that trade compliance processes are followed and that the maturity stays high
- Training and Education - To create awareness about trade compliance in daily operations and utilize trade compliance advantages
- Meeting coordination and spreading information - To easily spread information and to share knowledge between PA´s
Supportive
- Support for Sales, Product Management and Sourcing in international trade activities - To facilitate processes (e.g. product classification, restricted party screening) as well as utilize advantages associated with trade compliance
- Contact for external relationships (customs relations etc.) - To have one point of contact for complicated questions related to trade compliance and shipping logistics
- Support in internal management system of business units - To understand and secure shipping/ trade compliance impact upon business changes
- Document and maintain directives, policies and processes in the area of responsibility - To establish and secure process knowledge long-term within the BA
Your profile
- Degree in Logistics or related experience
- In-depth knowledge of key supply chain/logistics processes.
- Knowledge of global trade compliance
- Solid working knowledge of ERP/MRP systems
- Excellent communication and presentation skills; able to grasp and communicate complex ideas clearly
- Collaborative team player, work well with others but also autonomously with little direction
- The successful candidate should have a passion for new ideas and excellence, and a reputation for being highly innovative, self-motivated and results orientated
Location
The location for this role is flexible, but Worthington, Ohio is highly preferable.
