Position Description
This position provides academic leadership to the Finance discipline area of the School of Business. The position also contributes substantially to the research in this discipline and will expand the research activity of the Finance area in the school. To be engaged in both undergraduate and postgraduate teaching and supervision, and further development of the School’s programs, and undertake research of international quality, in addition to performing administrative and other activities associated with the School.
Selection Criteria:
1. Completion of a Doctoral qualification in Finance
2. Demonstrated experience in teaching and the design and development of quality unit learning resources within the field of Finance with commitment to high quality teaching
3. Demonstrated ability to successfully supervise honours and/or higher degree by research students
4. A record of scholarly research achievement, as evidenced by a track record of quality research output, including the publication of refereed papers in refutable national and international journals
5. Capacity and commitment to seeking competitive research grants and evidence of success in securing competitive grant funding including ARC grant funding
6. Demonstrated ability to work effectively, both individually, and as part of a team with high level interpersonal, communication and organisational skills
Accountabilities and Responsibilities:
1. Teaching and Learning
• Undertake allocated teaching and assessment duties for undergraduate and graduate coursework students in the area of Finance
• Initiate and develop high quality course materials and educational resources
• Coordinate tutors and provide tutorial assistance if necessary
• Provide supervision for honours and HDR students
2. Research
• Undertake and publish high quality research in the subject area both individually and collaboratively
• Publish scholarly papers in peer-reviewed national and international journals, preferably ERA-ranked journals.
• Disseminate research findings through seminars, workshops and conferences
• Seek competitive grant and industry funding for research projects
3. Leadership
• Foster excellence and encourage a team approach in the Finance discipline through leadership in research, teaching and professional activities
• Implement a shared vision for the future direction, goals and priorities of the discipline within the School
• Where appropriate represent the School’s interests, views and needs in the broader Faculty and University contexts
4. Administration
• Undertake relevant administrative duties in accordance with the parameters of the position, including participation in School, Faculty and/or University committees
• Undertake curriculum review and design activities, as required
5. Community Service
• Foster the School’s relations with industry, government departments, professional bodies and the wider community
6. Others
• Undertake other activities associated with the School which the incumbent might reasonably be expected to do, and which are consistent with the specific accountabilities and responsibilities outlined above
