The Council of the Copperbelt University through the Search Committee wishes to invite applications from suitably qualified candidates to fill the position of Deputy Vice-Chancellor.

JOB PURPOSE:
The Deputy Vice-Chancellor assists the Vice-Chancellor in planning, implementing monitoring and controlling of institutional activities.

DUTIES:
The duties of the Deputy Vice-Chancellor include:
• Coordination of academic, consultancy and research activities of the University
• Direct and monitor the implementation of the strategic plan
• Coordination of Staff Development Programs
• Performing duties of the office of the Vice-Chancellor in his/her absence

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:
• Have an earned Doctorate or equivalent professional degree
• Have academic qualities and a good record of personal achievement in both teaching and research
• Demonstrated analytical, administrative and financial management abilities

ATTRIBUTES:
• Possess high levels of personal and professional integrity and vision
• Possess good communication and interpersonal skills including the ability to inspire, motivate colleagues and enjoy being part of a strong management team
• Communication skills - high level skills in both oral and written
• Experience in resource mobilization
• Reliable, self confident, with humility and integrity
• Self motivated and team player
• Openness, flexibility, receptive to change and ability to manage change

REMUNERATION:
The University offers a competitive remuneration package to the individual appointed to this position.

TENURE:
The Deputy Vice-Chancellor is appointed for an initial period of three years which is renewable for a similar period depending on performance.

ABOUT THE UNIVERSITY:
The Copperbelt University is a Public University situated in the hub of the Copperbelt region of Zambia.

It has seven teaching schools, a graduate school, one Institute and two Directorates.

ANNUAL BUDGET:
Approximately K180 Billion (Approximately US$36 Million) composed of Government grants, tuition and other fess.
