A vacancy has arisen for the position of Vice-Chancellor at the Copperbelt University to be filled by a dynamic, innovative and visionary individual.

The Search Committee acting on behalf of the University Council invites applications from suitably qualified individuals for the appointment to the position.

JOB PURPOSE:
The Vice Chancellor is responsible for strategic leadership in financial, administrative and academic management of the institution in attaining its role in economic and social development through research and innovation.

DUTIES:
In performing the functions of the job, the Vice-Chancellor shall develop educational frameworks, policies and take ownership of the University Strategic Plan which outlines the University’s Strategic Goals.

These include:

• Implementing University development plans including human capital development
• Promoting a good labour relations environment within the University
• Have direct oversight of day to day operations of the core academic activities, resource mobilization and management, quality assurance and compliance
• Have oversight on student services, welfare and academic support
• Creating and maintaining networks with partners

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:
• Holder of an earned Doctorate or equivalent professional qualification
• A globally renowned scholar who must have attained at least the rank of Associate Professor or an individual of similar stature
• Accomplished record of scholarship, research, teaching and service
• Knowledge and experience of University systems
• Relevant years of experience at senior management level of at least Head of Faculty, or Director in a university or similar institution
• Experience in administrative and financial management
• Ability to create networks with internal and external stakeholders
• Experience in resource mobilization, visionary with ability to inspire others

REMUNERATION:
The University offers a competitive remuneration package for the person appointed to the position of Vice-Chancellor as determined by Council from time to time.

TENURE:
The Vice-Chancellor is appointed to hold office for a period of four years which is renewable for a further similar period depending on performance.

ABOUT THE UNIVERSITY:
The Copperbelt University is a Public University situated in the hub of the Copperbelt region of Zambia.

It has seven teaching schools, a graduate school, one Institute and two Directorates.

ANNUAL BUDGET:
Approximately K180 Billion (Approximately US$36 Million) composed of Government grants, tuition and other fess.
