The Communications Editor will play an important support role within the Communications & Publications Office (CPO) by undertaking a wide range of writing and editing activities for publications, web pages and multimedia projects. Primary Duties Under the supervision of the Head, Publications, Design and Audiovisual Branch, the incumbent performs the following duties: 1. Writes texts for annual reports, brochures, multimedia products, fact sheets, news stories, general information for the public web site, internal communication messages, forewords by the Secretary General and entries for external reference publications; 2. Edits and proof-reads documents for publications and newsletters and provides related support to other departments, when and if required; 3. Gathers information in a timely and organized manner by liaising with other departments to research appropriate information for publications; 4. Works closely with the web editor and the press office to ensure coherence of information published via the different media;
5. Revises and updates the General Secretariat English Language Style guide and liaises with other departments on style guides for other official languages; 6. Performs other duties as required.
Requirements Training/Education required • Undergraduate university degree is required; Experience required • 5 to 10 years of professional experience in writing and editing text for public information purposes; Special aptitudes required • Strong writing and editing skills in English;
• Fluency in English is required; Working Conditions • Remuneration for appointment on contract: The starting monthly gross salary for Grade 5 is EUR 3,310. The successful candidate may be offered appointment on a higher step depending upon professional background and experience. For more information regarding conditions of service see Employment conditions for contracted officials; available on the website (www.interpol.int). • The incumbent will also be required to work occasional overtime based upon workload. • The holder of the post may be required to go on missions, sometimes at short notice. * The Organization plans to establish a Global Complex in Singapore at the end of 2013. Although no decisions have been made at this time as to which posts will be transferred to Singapore, acceptance of the post implies acceptance of a transfer to Singapore. - - - - - - - INTERPOL recruits throughout the world in order to attract the best and most varied candidates.
