InfraCo Africa Non-Executive Director
InfraCo Africa is a donor-funded privately managed infrastructure development company which aims to stimulate greater private sector investment in infrastructure projects in sub-Saharan Africa, thereby contributing to the reduction of poverty. Acting as principal it develops early stage opportunities to the point where they can be sold to commercial investors at financial close. It is funded by the multi-donor Private Infrastructure Development Group (PIDG). (For more information, see www.infracoafrica.com and www.pidg.org.)
InfraCo Africa is seeking high-calibre individuals to join its Board as Non- Executive Directors (NEDs). NEDs are expected to oversee all aspects of the company s strategy, operations and financial performance and provide guidance to the management team. They are also expected to understand and act in accordance with the dual InfraCo Africa mandate, namely, to stimulate commercially viable infrastructure investments and contribute to the reduction of poverty.
Qualifications
Candidates are expected to have senior level experience in an infrastructure company or fund and a demonstrable successful track record of developing and closing infrastructure projects, managing joint ventures/partnerships and/ or raising capital for infrastructure investment. Ideally candidates will also have experience of infrastructure investment in emerging markets including sub-Saharan Africa.
Candidates must have experience as a non-executive director of other corporate boards and demonstrate an appreciation of the development mandate of InfraCo Africa and the objectives of the PIDG. He/she must also have an understanding of the governance issues involved in managing a publicly funded, privately operated company. Ideally the candidate will have good standing in the region derived from an excellent track record of business and/or public sector achievement.
