Based in Washington, D.C., ACDI/VOCA is a nonprofit international development organization that delivers technical and management assistance in agribusiness, financial services, enterprise development, community development and food security to promote broad-based economic growth and vibrant civil society. ACDI/VOCA currently has approximately 90 projects in 40 countries and revenues of $124 million.
We are seeking a D.C.-based Program Operations Specialist to provide key strategic planning and daily coordination of efficient start-up and close-down activities that comply with donor requirements and corporate policies and procedures. The Program Operations Specialist will also take the lead in facilitating regular reviews of project accomplishments against planned goals, compliance with donor regulations and management effectiveness. Responsibilities include fulfilling project start-up procurement requests; updating current start-up tools and templates and developing new ones; tracking implementation of project start-ups and close-downs; leading several start-up teams annually; facilitating project performance reviews; and contributing to organizational and systems improvements. The Program Operations Specialist will also facilitate training sessions on technical and operational issues.
A bachelor's degree in international development, agriculture, finance, economics or another related field is required; a master's degree is preferred and strongly desired. A minimum of five years experience in an international development capacity, including international field experience, is required. Knowledge of USAID procurement procedures is preferred. Candidates must demonstrate excellence in oral and written communications; analytical, organizational and interpersonal skills; working knowledge in MS Excel, Word and Power Point; and the abilities to work independently and as part of a team, handle multiple tasks, meet deadlines, and track and report on progress. Position requires travel worldwide for short-term assignments (up to 30 percent of the time). Fluency in at least one other language strongly preferred.
