Programmes Officer

£21,522 pa (pro rata), one year, fixed-term contract, part-time (28 hours per week) Based in Islington, London (with occasional UK travel)

This is great opportunity for an individual with exceptional administrative and interpersonal skills, impressive attention to detail, initiative and a can-do attitude, and the ability to work effectively with a diverse range of people.

The post holder will provide support to the Head of Programmes. S/he will ensure that information from the country programmes is coordinated systematically and easily accessible to the Head of Programmes and the other staff members in the London office. S/he will also provide administrative support and be involved in report writing.

The post holder should have a keen interest in development issues, in innovation and excellence, and in making a difference.

The successful candidate should have a degree in a relevant field or equivalent experience.

You should also have demonstrable experience of providing comprehensive administrative support; working in a supportive and enabling role, building working relationships with a culturally diverse workforce, spread across different geographical locations; organising and prioritising a demanding workload, including working under pressure to achieve deadlines and adjusting workload in response to changing circumstances; dealing with enquiries from the general public (eg phone calls and correspondence) in a friendly, tactful, confident and diplomatic manner, and organising meetings and conferences, and of booking flights/ travel and accommodation.

Solid office/ administration skills, including good overall knowledge of administrative systems, excellent attention to detail and accuracy; excellent organisation and planning skills, including the ability to multitask; excellent interpersonal and communication skills, including the ability to communicate and work with a wide range of people in a participatory, respectful, collaborative manner, and to enhance effective work relationships are also essential. You should also have the ability to take initiative, good problem solving skills, an openness to learning (including the ability to reflect on areas for improvement), be results oriented, with a drive for innovation and excellence, have excellent written and spoken English and Spanish, and computer and numeracy skills.
