Tax Audit Adviser
The Australia Indonesia Partnership for Economic Governance (AIPEG) is an AusAID-funded project assisting Indonesia to undertake economic and financial policy reforms. Norton Rose Australia, the Managing Contractor, seeks applications for the position of Tax Audit Advisor. The duration of the appointment will be one year but there is a strong likelihood that the position will be extended. The successful candidate will be expected to have more than 15 years experience in tax audit and be able to demonstrate the following qualifications, skills, attributes and personal qualities:
- Strong technical and practical knowledge of:
1.1 The tax enforcement (compliance) program of an OECD country;
1.2 Strategies commonly used to detect non compliance;
1.3 Strategies to mitigate complex tax compliance risks;
1.4 The practices and methodologies used to identify the amount of undeclared taxable income and/or tax evaded at an individual taxpayer level; and
2. An ability to:
2.1 Understand and analyse complex technical issues;
2.2Interpret and apply tax technical knowledge;
A strong capacity to implement reform programs that will impact significantly on the performance of a national Tax Agency.
An ability to effectively communicate with a broad range of stakeholders.
Strong professional leadership skills and the capacity to advise senior executives of the Directorate.
The ability to produce high quality reports in the English language.
Formal qualifications in an area relevant to the services.
In addition, Bahasa Indonesia language skills would be an advantage.

- What do you believe the risks and challenges are in successfully introducing and implementing and a new tax audit program and what do you believe the major barriers would be? How would you deal with these risks, challenges and barriers?
- a)where and how you developed this expertise,
b) your working experience in the field,
c)your international working experience in the field, and
d)your prior experience as a mentor /adviser.
- a)a new tax audit program, and/or
b)new business systems and techniques to improve enforcement capabilities?
