CALL FOR RESUMES: CRIME AND VIOLENCE PREVENTION PROJECT – EL SALVADOR

CHIEF OF PARTY

Clients include international development agencies, international lending institutions, private corporations and philanthropies, and host-country governments.

DAI is anticipating a forthcoming U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) program in El Salvador called Crime and Violence Prevention Project. This project will serve as a follow on to USAID's existing crime and violence prevention efforts, and should directly build on the recent gains achieved. The objective of the project is to help increase safety for citizens of El Salvador. This will be accomplished through: supporting the Government of El Salvador's (GOES) national level crime prevention efforts; supporting the expansion – this includes geographic and technical expansions - of municipal-led crime and violence prevention efforts; and identifying and seizing windows of opportunity in crime and violence prevention.

Role: The Chief of Party will be the lead interlocutor between USAID, Salvadoran officials and local partners to support ongoing crime and violence prevention efforts, while overseeing program activities and contributing substantially to technical innovations in the crime prevention space.

Responsibilities: The Chief of Party will: • Provide leadership and oversight to all project activities, ensuring their integration and synergies to meet project goals. • Contribute to technical innovations as relate to crime prevention. • Make key decisions and solve problems in short time frames while ensuring operational and program integrity. • Serve as primary liaison to USAID, Salvadoran officials, local counterparts, and DAI home office management, ensuring clear communications and consistent expectations across all parties. • Ensure compliance with all USAID and DAI rules and regulations. • Provide timely reporting to USAID. • Manage networks and individuals related to project activities.

Qualifications:

EDUCATION • Minimum of Bachelor’s Degree required. • Master’s degree preferred.

WORK EXPERIENCE • Minimum of 10 years of demonstrated ability working on crime and violence prevention issues in Latin America. El Salvador experience preferred. • Has worked with multiple levels of leadership, from grassroots organizations to government officials. • Experience managing USAID-funded projects, with particular past performance designing and implementing programmatic activities.

SKILLS & KNOWLEDGE • High level of interpersonal and diplomatic skills required. • A sound understanding of Salvadoran political, economic and social history and current context. • Knowledge of localized causes of community violence. • Knowledge of and experience with youth, crime prevention and/or similar areas, livelihoods and municipal capacity development a plus. • Fluency in Spanish and English required.
