SWF Secretariat: Financial Analyst, MCMAL/DM

The International Monetary Fund is seeking a financial analyst (FA) to work as a member of the Secretariat for the International Forum of Sovereign Wealth Funds (IFSWF).
The IFSWF was established by the International Working Group of Sovereign Wealth Funds (IWG), the author of Santiago Principles, in Kuwait City in April, 2009 (see "Kuwait Declaration"). IFSWF is a voluntary group of Sovereign Wealth Funds (SWFs), which will meet, exchange views on issues of common interest, and facilitate an understanding of the Santiago Principles and SWF activities.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
Under the supervision of a deputy secretary general, the successful candidate will provide assistance with the IFSWF Secretariat's day-to-day operations. The FA will be mainly responsible for monitoring and analyzing the financial markets and news relating to SWFs. The FA will also be expected to maintain the IFSWF website and handle the administrative work related to arranging annual meetings and the work of the sub-committees. Day-to-day operations of the Secretariat include preparation and follow up related to annual and other meetings; conference calls; preparation of reports, press releases, and outreach programs; and other communications.

Qualifications

The successful candidate must have an advanced degree in finance/economics or a quantitative field is, as well as a good understanding of asset management and financial markets in practice, with a minimum of 7 years experience in the area of asset management, preferably in a SWF or an official/international institution, and ideally supplemented with practical experience elsewhere. The position requires excellent written and oral communication skills in English, well-demonstrated analytical skills, complete knowledge of Microsoft Excel and other Windows' software, experience in developing and managing databases and basic programming skills. Experience in using market information tools (such as Bloomberg, Reuters, Dealogic) and website design and maintenance (experience in Microsoft SharePoint platform would be an advantage) is essential. Initiative and ability to look creatively for solutions and ability to respond to work demands at a short notice will be extremely important. This is a contractual position with an initial two-year term, which may be extended depending on performance.
