About the job:
CSIR Consulting and Analytical Services (CAS) unit’s Mechanical Testing Laboratory carries out a wide variety of mechanical tests in accordance with the SABS, BS, DIN and other international standards. The laboratory is an advanced technology facility housing state-of-the-art mechanical testing equipment. It also offers proof loading facilities, and testing a variety of equipment and attachments. This position is based in Johannesburg.
Minimum requirements:
  • Candidates must currently be enrolled at a South African tertiary education institution in the following fields:
o   Mechanical engineering
o   Civil engineering
o   Industrial engineering
o   Mining engineering.
  • Candidates must have completed second year or higher.
  • Previous vacation work at the mining and engineering test laboratories will be advantageous.
  • Ability to work independently as well as in a team.
  • Student must be self-motivated.
  • Problem-solving, solution-seeking orientation.
  • Must be able to work independently and must take initiative.
  • Reliable and possess good work ethics.
