The challenge

The Bank of England has new responsibilities for promoting the safety and soundness of banks, insurance companies and designated investment firms through the Prudential Regulation Authority (PRA). Joining our Life Insurance Division, you’ll work closely with a diverse portfolio of firms, supervising their activities to ensure protection for policyholders.

You’ll assess risks by gathering a wide range of information on finances, solvency, management, governance, market position and operations. Making tough decisions with long-term ramifications, you’ll influence insurance firms – often at a senior level – to deal with the risks on our agenda and deliver solutions to them.

The person

A high level of numeracy and an incisive mind are clearly critical. However, we also look for robust interpersonal skills and the ability to build relationships. You’ll perform well within a structured and sometimes pressurised working environment.

Chances are, you’ll come from a scientific or engineering background. Perhaps you’re already working in finance, or perhaps you’re looking for a new challenge. Through an intensive induction, we’ll build on your intellectual rigour and personal qualities to equip you for this key supervisory role.
