General Coordinator

Solidaridad Internacional Kanda (SiKanda) is looking for a General Coordinator to develop the following tasks:
Main Functions
Design and implementation of projects and programs:
• Execute the agreements and resolutions of the Council, implement plans and approved programs, and be responsible for achieving group goals and objectives
• Look for new funding sources for projects and write high quality proposals to obtain financing
• Manage and respond on annual revenue targets achieved
• Prepare budgets and update operating expenses for individual projects and for the organization itself
• Develop and review partial and final reports.
Monitoring and Evaluation:
• Design and implement methods of a monitoring and evaluating each project
• Review all work developed by the work team
• Make regular field visits to supervise the development of the projects
• Promote tri-monthly evaluations with each area of the organization
• Meet with the Council regularly to keep them informed about operational issues and work with them to find solutions to complex challenges
• Ensure accountability and follow up on commitments with the team and with partners.
Strategic leadership:
• Know how to motivate and advise the work team
• Implement and monitor activities according to SiKanda’s strategic plan
• Develop innovative actions with a long-term vision according the socio-economic conditions of a community
• Facilitate participatory processes and accompany the team.
Resource management:
• Select, contract, train, and direct qualified technical and administrative staff to implement projects, politics, and goals
• Coordinate the work of each area and be responsible for its execution
• Use knowledge of cost control and finance reporting to analyze operations
• Prepare the annual projects budget.
Represent the organization:
• With authority granted by the Board, you will represent the organization when meeting with public agencies, businesses, and individuals
• Implement administrative duties necessary to keep the organization functioning
• Draft and sign contracts with partners, visit government offices and public events when needed
• Promote the work of the organization throughout media outlets and exchange experiences at national and international related programs.
Capacities:
• Vertical and horizontal leadership skills, long-term strategic vision and extensive knowledge of development and cooperation policies. Passion for the NGO sector
• Knowledge and capacity to teach such topics as urban agriculture, health, economic diversification, human rights awareness, environmental protection, and conflict resolution
• Management of participatory methodologies, project formulation, performance indicators, and strategic planning
• Ability to analyze financial data and to prepare financial reports, statements, and projections
• Creativity and capacity for analysis and synthesis
• Good knowledge of computer programs: MS office, and preferably others.
Profile:
• At least three years of management experience and/or direction of social projects
• Preferably with postgraduate degree in Sustainable Development, International Cooperation, or the development, monitoring, and evaluation of social projects
• Bilingual English-Spanish. Knowledge of French or another language is desirable
• Strong English-language writing skills, particularly with fundraising proposals and reports. • Articulate with good public speaking skills
• Efficient, organized, and ready to meet deadlines under pressure with little supervision
• Initiative and creativity to provide innovative approaches to projects
• Willingness to receive new training and education and to learn about new topics autonomously
• If necessary, willing to travel / work during the weekends
• Driver’s license.
Work conditions:
This position requires the candidate to have full availability, to identify with the values of the organization, and to adhere to its internal policies. The general coordinator has to consider themselves on duty at all times as a representative of the organization. Salary: Dependent on skills and level of experience.
