The Guelb Moghrein copper-gold operation is 100% owned by Mauritanian Copper Mines (MCM), a First Quantum subsidiary. The mine is located 250 kilometres northeast of the nation's capital, Nouakchott, near the town of Akjoujt.

Summary / Purpose of the Role
Reporting into the HME Maintenance Manager, the Auto Electrician Senior Supervisor will provide leadership, first-line supervision, technical assistance and training to a team of auto electricians at site.  

Key areas of Responsibility
  • Ensure that Safety Protocols and Operating Procedures are followed and that all Safety, Health and Environmental Statutory Requirements are met.
  • Supervise and mentor the auto electrical team on operating standards, procedures and methods.
  • Perform preventative maintenance, installation, repairs and troubleshooting of electrical faults to Heavy Mining Equipment in the workshop and the field, such as removal, repair and installation of electrical components, diagnosis and trouble shooting, including air conditioning repairs.
  • Monitor, analyse and implement changes to ensure maintenance is preventative, predictive, and proactive.
  • Comply with established methodologies and quality standards related to auto electrical / maintenance while at the same time recommending new or alternate approaches.
  • Monitor and report on the achievement of targets and revises strategies as needed.
  • Maximise equipment utilisation and minimises downtime.
  • Be enthusiastic and pro-active in view of driving the auto electrical team to achieve production targets.

Required Technical Skills, Training & Experience
  • Trade Certificate equivalent to a minimum of 4 years in an apprenticeship program for an Auto Electrician or equivalent.
  • Minimum of 8 to 10 years of experience in the maintenance and troubleshooting of Heavy Mining Equipment, drill rigs experience would be beneficial.  
  • Minimum of two years' experience in a supervisory role with ability to delegate and motivate the team towards achieving production targets.
  • Ability to test, diagnose and service electronic components and systems.
  • Good written and oral communication skills in English; French and/or Arabic would be highly considered.  
  • Ability to achieve result is a cross cultural environment.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to communicate at all levels.
