The Organisation

QGC is a leading Australian coal seam gas explorer and producer focused on supplying cleaner hydrocarbon energy to growing domestic and international markets. 

We are establishing Queensland Curtis LNG, a world-first project to turn reserves of natural coal seam gas in the Surat and Bowen basins in Queensland into liquefied natural gas (LNG) – a carbon efficient fuel. 

QGC, which is wholly owned by the British energy company BG Group, employs more than 4,300 staff and contractors. 

Position Summary

This incumbent will be responsible for establishing and managing various elements of QGC’s commercial arrangements.

Key Accountabilities

Position Specific• Acquire a comprehensive understanding of the QCLNG upstream and midstream commercial structure, with a particular focus on asset ownership and funding, cost recovery, risk allocation and JV Management and administration of the midstream suite of agreements.
• Apply knowledge of midstream agreements to Revenue Model development and update.
• Apply knowledge of midstream agreements to provide advice to others on operations of the commercial agreements and impact of deals on the commercial structure.
• Lead negotiations for amendments to commercial agreements.
• Lead JV partner meetings and interactions.
• Develop the capability to document, communicate and field queries from internal and external parties on the QCLNG commercial structure and to validate documents prepared by other teams in relation to the structure.
• Coordinate the update and maintenance of all commercial tools in relation to the Commercial Operations Standard sharepoint and Midstream Operations Site in support of the Midstream suite of agreements (including COMS2 management and updates).
• Assist with preparation of development and operations budgets and approvals as required for the midstream assets with JV partners. 
• Assist with liaison with CNOOC, Tokyo Gas and QGC joint venture managers to secure timely approvals and support of all matters required in support of JV management.
• Monitor weekly and monthly reports on delivery of the Midstream project with a view to identifying commercial issues and administering JV approvals with the multi-disciplinary team.
• Attend and coordinate monthly/quarterly meetings with CNOOC and Tokyo Gas and assist with resolution of issues raised by those parties.
• Assist with review and preparation of recommended positions in support of compliance and management of obligations under agreements.
• Support delivery of new agreements and amendments required in relation to the midstream draft documents, critically evaluating commercial structures and liaising with CNOOC and Tokyo Gas to secure their approvals.

People Management• The incumbent must abide by company policy in relation to HR policies and procedures such as annual HR cycle and meet deadlines within the appropriate timeframes.
• This role may have a direct report (BGE or IGDP)

Unique Knowledge, Skills, Experience and Attribute

Experience• Drafting, negotiation or administration of legal agreements
• Transactional due diligence or other assurance processes
• Preparation or administration of joint venture budgets
 
Knowledge, Languages, Skills and Attributes• Tertiary qualification - legal, commercial or technical
• Understanding of commercial concepts of cost recovery and risk allocation
• Strong commitment to ensuring completeness and accuracy of all work
• Excellent standard of written English
• Proactive approach to identifying and capturing opportunities for improvement of work processes
• Tenacity in securing the support of internal stakeholders where required for commercial obligation compliance or changes in work practices
• Ability to work across multiple disciplines and mobilise multi-disciplinary teams within the business
• Strong focus on developing and maintaining good relationships with key internal and external stakeholders, particularly JV partners
• Strong commercial focus and acumen
• Good interpersonal and self-organisational skills
• Good verbal and written communication skills
