MANAGER, GLOBAL AGENDA (NB: job title tbc)
The World Energy Council (WEC), a London-based international non-profit energy policy organisation active in 95 countries, seeks a manager to support the Global Agenda team in the London office. The Global Agenda team is responsible for the Council’s high-level Energy Leaders’ Summits and Ministerial Roundtables, which are small, invitation-only events aimed at global energy leaders and ministers and which are held 2-3 times a year in locations around the world.

- Working with the Global Agenda team to develop specific content sessions and identify hot topics for the WELS and Ministerial sessions
- Developing and managing the ministerial community in specific regions, including building a close working relationship, liaising with their offices on a regular basis and facilitating their participation in Ministerial Roundtables and other Council events
- Working with the event organisers and/or venue to ensure VIP support is provided to the ministers
- Helping to identify and recruit speakers relevant to the session topics, including top level representatives from government and industry and selected energy experts and representatives from IGOs and NGOs;
- Assisting with preparation of invitation letters to participants and following up to confirm attendance
- Providing support as needed to participants with respect to registration, accommodation and logistics
- Assisting with preparation of badges and programme books
- Helping to prepare speaker instructions and briefings prior to the event and managing speakers onsite
- Coordinating speaker presentations and speeches prior to the event and onsite;
- As required, providing onsite support as part of the Global Agenda team during the WELS/Ministerial
- Entering data for participants into the Council’s CRM database and ensuring it is updated
The ideal candidate will have outstanding networking skills and will be goal-oriented and used to working under pressure and to strict deadlines. The candidate should also have a minimum of five years’ experience in a global, IGO, NGO or governmental organisation; experience in events management; working with a demanding, high-level clientele; managing and delivering projects on time; a keen eye for detail; outstanding communication skills; persistence and tact; and the ability to function in an international environment where clients come from a variety of cultures, have differing levels of expectation and speak many language.
A university degree is required. Fluency in English is required, and a second language (French, Spanish, Russian, Mandarin, Arabic) is desirable. Applicants must hold a passport or visa which allows them to work in the UK.
Some international travel may be required. The position is available immediately.
Salary: £35,000
