Commissioner for Communications Regulation

The Commission for Communications Regulation is a three person Commission where the main functions include (i) the regulation of the electronic communications sector including broadcasting and telecommunications transmission networks; (ii) the regulation of the postal sector; and (iii) the management of the radio frequency spectrum.

There is currently one vacancy in the Commission and the Minister for Communications, Energy and Natural Resources has requested the Public Appointments Service (PAS) to oversee a competition for this vacancy.

The candidates for the post of Commissioner will ideally have:

  • An in depth knowledge and/or experience of working in a business/commercial environment preferably including experience within the communications sector;
  • Excellent judgement and objective decision making, negotiation, conflict resolution and influencing skills at a senior level;
  • Demonstrated capability for developing a strategic vision of future sectoral and cross sectoral developments and the ability to represent the Commission in all relevant fora, national and international;
  • A track record of exceptional managerial and organisational ability at a senior level, preferably in a business or commercial environment, and of successfully managing and developing staff and financial resources.
