BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT SPECIALIST, IRAQ
Tetra Tech ARD (http://www.ardinc.com) has an immediate need for a Business Development Specialist for the USAID Inma Agricultural Development project in Iraq. The Inma program promotes economic diversification and job generation, with an emphasis on the growth of the agriculture and agribusiness (“agro-food”) sectors in the provincial, regional and sub-regional economies.
The Business Development Service Team Leader will offer extensive experience in the food and agriculture sector with functional areas of expertise in agro-business finance, marketing, operations, personnel, and general management. The consultant shall have proven experience in implementing business development and planning and shall have either an appropriate graduate degree or substantial experience providing applied business development services.
Responsibilities
-- Manage all project activities related to enterprise development. This includes supporting Horticulture, -Livestock, and Fish and Feed Value Chains with development of commercial enterprises (feasibility studies through company launch) and providing Firm-level assistance.
-- Develop and manage programs to provide firm-level assistance in the areas of financial, operational and general business management to targeted agribusinesses and associations.
-- Provide expert advice to targeted food and agribusinesses on management and business issues (eg. strategy, financial, marketing, pricing, etc.)
-- Develop and manage programs to promote the development of agribusiness in Iraq including grant programs to lending institutions to increase access to capital.
-- Assist agricultural groups in organization of sustainable producer and marketing associations, commodity commissions and price and quality bargaining associations; address meetings of interested groups on problems of agricultural marketing.
-- Provide expert advice to INMA Technical staff on matters pertaining to business development.
-- Represent Inma in discussions with the client, donors, and private and public sector stakeholders on matters impacting agribusiness development in Iraq.
-- Manage team of ex-pat and local national staff in the execution of business development activities.
-- Prepare reports and documents for inclusion into Publications and project related reports such as Work Plans, weekly/quarterly reports, and Public Relations pieces (success stories, etc).
Qualifications:
-- Candidates must have an advanced degree and professional experience in Business Development and Business Plan writing;
-- Must have at least 5 years of relevant professional experience with donor funded projects in more than one country;
-- Regional and USAID experience is required;
-- Fluency in English required, with excellent oral and written communication skills;
-- Ability to work in a fast paced, political and highly stressful environment;
-- Experience with managing large teams composed of team members from different cultural and religious backgrounds.
