Description:
The Country Representative is responsible for the overall management and program direction, legal obligations, reporting, and stewardship of all AFSC resources. The Representative serves as official representative of the AFSC; manages contacts in Zimbabwe with government ministries, UN agencies, and local and international NGOs. He/she reports to Regional Director for Africa, supervises Zimbabwe program staff; consults and collaborates with Philadelphia based staff and others as appropriate, and serves as a member of the AFSC Africa Region Leadership Team.
Qualification:
EDUCATION
- Master's degree preferred, with specialization in international development, humanitarian assistance or peace and conflict studies, or a bachelor's degree with significant relevant experience.
EXPERIENCE
- Six years experience in international positions working in the global south with increasing responsibility in planning and managing humanitarian assistance, recovery and development programs.
- Fluency in written and spoken English; demonstrated ability to report orally and in writing; ability to write and edit materials for publication in English.
- Experience working and living outside of one's own country in the global south.
Period of Appointment
- A period not to exceed five years in the same position with a 6 month probationary period in the first year.
