The Atlantic Council of the United States seeks a talented, entrepreneurial thinker and doer to develop and manage its Corporate and Membership programs, including the International Advisory Board and the Board of Directors. The Director will support the Council's efforts in developing and implementing effective strategies to attract funding for the organization's work. S/he must be innovative and effective in developing partnerships with business partners, foundations, and nonprofit organizations.

In this role working closely with the Atlantic Council's Vice President for Development and External Relations and President/CEO, the director will identify, cultivate, solicit and steward donors and prospective donors. S/he will guide and mobilize board members, program directors, Vice Presidents and President/CEO to provide them with tools necessary for successful stewardship and solicitation; determine appropriate strategies for retention, upgrade of current donors and donor programs and the acquisition of new donors; work closely with the board, Program Directors and development staff to discuss and identify potential donors.

The Director will develop and cultivate corporate partnerships and larger gifts. S/he will also oversee the Atlantic Council's International Advisory Board (IAB), IAB annual meeting and communications.

Events are vital to the success of our research and operations. Working collaboratively with the Outreach and Event group, the director will advise and support our annual Awards Dinners and other major fundraising initiatives, and develop and implement strategies for post-event cultivation and solicitation.

Job responsibilities:

- Supervise the Corporate and Membership programs staff.

- Plan and oversee membership-related events.

- Develop and implement strategic business plans to develop new opportunities for expansion of Corporate, HNI, Directors, members and programs. - Provide guidance and strategy to the Program Directors, Vice President OER and President/CEO on potential funding opportunities.

- Manage primary accounts in partnership with programs. - Develop and implement membership campaigns.

Qualification:
- We're looking for self-motivated and results-oriented candidates with a Graduate degree and experience in a similar position. - The demonstrated abilities to meet fund-raising goals and effectively interact with donors and prospects are critical to excel in this position.

- Development database experience and solid working knowledge of MS Word and Excel are required.

- Exceptional organizational, communication, writing and networking skills are also essential, as well as the ability to meet deadlines.

- A successful applicant should have a minimum of 5 yrs experience in Development, sales & marketing or related experience. - International experience or background in international affairs is a plus.
