Director Regional Office Southeast Asia (Jakarta)
For the Regional Office for Southeast Asia in Jakarta, established in 2004, we are looking for a Director Regional Office.
What will be your responsibility?
The key tasks for the regional director to provide leadership to a staff of 50 people in Indonesia and Timor-Leste, programme development and funding raising from international institutions.
As a director you are responsible for HRM for staff in the region, and responsible for maintaining good communications with and between the staff. You represent Hivos in the region and you are responsible for the programmes in Indonesia and Timor-Leste.
We expect you to mobilise new financial sources and to be co- responsible for financial annual planning and budgeting.
As a director you maintain contacts with civil society organisations and opinion leaders in the region. Also you are responsible for donor relations, main contact for embassies, relevant Indonesian government agencies and international organisations including members of the Alliance 2015.
You are responsible for program development based on trends and consistent with Hivos business plan opportunities and issues in the region.
What will be your profile?
As a director you have affinity with Hivos’missions and goals. You have also ample verifiable experience with good donorship and entrepreneurin attitude, including accessing funds from different sources for development programmes. You have experience in dealing with government agencies.
Naturally you have ample experience with personnel management and leadership qualities preferably with “Southern” organisations. Obviously your communication skills are excellent. You have also ample knowledge of social, cultural and political contexts in Southeast Asia. Next to that we expect you to have intercultural understanding and an open attitude for staff inputs in program or office development. Next to relevant experience with policy development and financial administration of a professional organisation will be an asset. We prefer you also to have knowledge about one or more Hivos programmes and affinity and experience with civil society building and with civil society in Southeast Asia.
Final you need to have excellent verbal and writing skills in English and preferably also in Bahasa Indonesia and Dutch.

A stimulating work environment in a professional international organisation with a very dedicated staff. An employment from 1 September 2011 onwards for three years (the initial appointment will be for one year with a possible extension for two more years on satisfactory performance).
