The Network of Major European Cities is looking for a Programme Officer Finance & Administration

The successful candidate for this position will be responsible for the financial and administrative management of an operating grant that EUROCITIES receives from the European Commission. This grant finances a work program on the involvement of cities in the EU social inclusion process.

Responsibilities:

Financial and administrative management:

  • Day-to-day management of the grant budget, including daily bookkeeping, preparation and follow-up of outgoing and incoming invoices and reimbursement claim forms
  • Budget monitoring including staff costs and other expenses
  • Planning and preparing cost statements and other financial and administrative reporting tasks to the EC
  • Budget development for future years
  • Acting as contact person for financial and administrative questions, including liaising with the desk officers of the European Commission on financial matters
  • Contacts with external suppliers

Administrative Support

  • Monitoring the implementation of the Progress work programme under the supervision of the senior policy officer
  • Occasionally, booking travel and hotel for events that are part of the operating grant for EUROCITIES staff and member representatives
  • Organising logistics for events that are part of the operating grant in cooperation with EUROCITIES staff and members

Other

  • Contribute to the overall activities of the financial team of EUROCITIES


Profile
:

  • At least 1 year experience related to financial management of EU-co-funded projects and/or EU operating grants required.
  • Experience in event organization desirable
  • Excellent coordination and communication skills
  • Good knowledge of Excel and Word
  • Fluent English and French in oral and written, additional languages desired
  • Good networking abilities and interpersonal skills for an international environment
  • Being detail-oriented, flexible, organized. Should have team spirit as well as the ability to work autonomously. Enthusiastic personality.
  • Good numerical skills
