MAG is an evolving and diverse international charity committed to clearing the explosive remnants of conflict for the benefit of communities worldwide. Working in current and former conflict zones we reduce the threat of death and injury to communities, in addition to providing risk education to people living, working and travelling through contaminated areas. Established in 1989, we currently work in 17 countries across four continents and were co-laureate of the 1997 Nobel Peace Prize. With headquarters in Manchester city centre, the organisation is now facing a period of change and seeking to appoint a Systems Accountant to develop, maintain and reconcile the financial and contract management systems.

In this role the successful candidate will;

  • Design automated financial reports to support the provision of high quality management information, utilising MAG's accounting software (PS Financials), MS Query and Business Objects (Crystal Reports) as appropriate
  • Assist in the ongoing development of PSF, working with key stakeholders to identify areas for improvement
  • Develop finance processes and systems to meet business requirements, providing support and guidance to MAG personnel in the use of PSF financial modules and related processes
  • Design ‘front end' data entry tools and modules within PSF and MS Excel as appropriate
  • Develop the financial control environment across all MAG systems, including the contract management database and PSF
  • Manage and maintain the account coding structure, ensuring the published chart of accounts meets the needs of the business, including the maintenance of nominal codes and PSF key-lists
  • Ensure periods of account are ‘closed' and ‘rolled over' in accordance with agreed timescales
  • Assist MAG in rolling out PSF and related financial data entry/reporting tools to its international programmes, providing technical advice and assurance as appropriate
  • Act as primary contact (Systems Administrator) for all PSF maintenance issues for MAG's head office and international programmes
  • Provide the ‘bridge' between MAG ICT and Finance departments, ensuring consistency of approach and maximising MAG's systems capacity.

This is a unique opportunity to join a dynamic charitable organisation that is going through rapid change, in a role that will have interaction with a number of financial and operational areas. With exceptional communication skills coupled with strong and proven problem solving skills you will have a track record of understanding financial and business processes alongside project management skills. Whilst we are seeking a full accounting qualification (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or Cipfa) proven experience of working in a systems based role is key.
