The University of Pretoria is one of the leading residential and research universities in South Africa. The University is seeking a strong leader with extensive knowledge, experience and understanding of the strategic management of human capital as well as the ability to inculcate a strong transformational culture at the University is required. The candidate’s profile should command respect and credibility and display unwaveringly high levels of personal integrity and ethical standards.
The Executive Director will be a member of the University’s Executive and will assist the Vice-Chancellor and Principal in managing the University. As a member of the Executive team the incumbent must give impetus to and support the University’s vision, mission and strategic plan and reflect and enhance the University’s commitment to excellence, relevance, diversity and sustainability.
The Executive Director has to develop, lead, implement and manage the overall institutional strategies pertaining to the human capital development and transformation portfolios at the University. This includes executive responsibility for the strategic, transactional and operational aspects of all Human Resource functions, including the specialist functions of organisational development, talent acquisition, management, development, reward and retention, employment relations, and HR systems development. In addition, the incumbent will have institutional accountability for all aspects of transformation, including Employment Equity, institutional culture and climate and fostering diversity.
