Finance Officer (The Hague, The Netherlands)

As a member of the Financial Administration team based at SNV's Head Office in The Hague the jobholder will be responsible for a range of quality, process improvement and general accounting activities. The team is responsible for processing, managing and controlling all the financial data for the Head Office and also the coordination of accounting and treasury activities across the 30+ country offices of SNV worldwide. This includes maintaining and developing the worldwide accounting structure and accounting policies and the planning and execution of the year end close cycle and preparation of financial data for SNV's annual report.

Key responsibilities:

· Quality and Process improvement:

Ø coordination of standard documentation for financial processes and policies

Ø measurement of internal processes and development of quality metrics

Ø coordination of control self-assessment processes in Finance

Ø project management of process improvement programs in the Finance function

Ø support for broader SNV improvement initiatives as needed

· General Accounting:

Ø support and improvement of program accounting processes at HO and in the field, including tracking and reporting of costs and billings by project by donor

Ø reconciliation of HO balances with main donor and production of reports

Ø maintenance of the global chart of accounts

Ø act as the user reporting focal point for Finance Administration team

Ø support the Team Leader Finance Administration on special projects and reporting requests

Ø support the Regional Controllers and field Finance Officers with expert advice on specialist areas of responsibility

Ø provide backup for other members of the team as needed

Functie-eisen

· Education: HEAO or University degree in Business Economics or related field

· Work experience: at least 3 to 5 years finance experience in a multi country environment, working with multi-cultural teams; project management experience

· Technical experience: solid working knowledge of SAP or equivalent ERP system; experience in report design and development as user and teaming with ICT; highly developed Excel skills

· Skills: Strong communication and presentation skills, results oriented, pro-active, effective team player

· Travel: availability for travel to field locations from time to time

· Languages: English is essential; Dutch and French are advantageous.
