University Lecturer in Cognitive Anthropology

SCHOOL OF ANTHROPOLOGY AND MUSEUM ETHNOGRAPHY in association with Wadham College

Grade 10a: Salary £42,733 - £57,431 p.a.

Applications are invited for a full-time University Lecturership in the field of the Cognitive Anthropology. The post is tenable from 1 October 2012 or as soon as possible thereafter and will be offered in conjunction with a tutorial fellowship at Wadham College. The post will be based at the School of Anthropology and Museum Ethnography, Banbury Road, Oxford.

The successful candidate will be expected to carry out advanced research in the area of cognitive anthropology and to contribute to teaching in the School of Anthropology, including lecturing, examining and graduate supervision, pastoral care of graduate students, and assistance with the administration and organisation of teaching and research. As a Fellow of Wadham College, the successful candidate will participate in the administration and governance of the college, teach undergraduates and act as a College Adviser to students.

Applicants should have a doctorate in anthropology or a closely related discipline already awarded at the time of application, and specialisation in cognitive anthropology. Applicants need evidence of substantial research accomplishments, the ability to raise research funding, evidence of a realisable research plan, the ability to supervise under/postgraduate students, evidence of ability to teach effectively and a good record of collaboration and team work.
