Academic Lead Students as Partners & Quality Enhancement Higher Education Academy

The HEA is a national body for enhancing learning and teaching in higher education in the UK. We work with institutions across the higher education system to help bring about change in learning and teaching to improve the outcomes for students. We do this by recognising and rewarding excellent teaching, bringing together people and resources to share best practice and by helping influence, shape and implement policy.

The HEA supports staff in higher education throughout their career from those who are new to teaching through to senior management. We offer services in 28 disciplines throughout the UK and have offices in England, Wales and Scotland. Through our partnership management team we work directly with institutions to understand individual circumstances and priorities and bring together resources to meet them.

The Academic Lead will work closely with the Head of Institutional Strategy to provide, sector-wide, the key interface between the HEA and the learning and teaching practitioners and staff working at all levels on the quality enhancement of learning and teaching in Higher Education.

The post holder will exercise academic leadership in close collaboration with individuals and teams within HE working in the relevant area, forging, developing and supporting specific and defined relationships and activities with institutions and other relevant organisations to achieve the Academy's strategic aims and objectives.

Managing performance in the delivery of the service will be a key part of the role as will the provision of creative and committed academic leadership, and collaboration as required with departments, individuals and teams within HE, to support, improvements in learning and teaching in the sector.

This role will be responsible for developing the HEA's Quality Enhancement service for the sector including a programme of activity (including workshops, seminars and conferences) and bespoke consultancy services in cooperation with colleagues and associates delivering services in other teams.

You will have exceptional interpersonal skills and a strong background in delivering substantial and significant teaching to the HE sector. Knowledge of UK higher education and the sector's current issues, particularly in quality enhancement would be an advantage.
