Duties and Responsibilities
  1. Coordinate the registration of interest for resettlement in the US conducted regularly in the camp. Verify the biographical information and identity of each refugee applying for resettlement. Update the proGres database to prepare the group submission to the United States.
  2. Update the proGres database for resettlement events, including submissions, interviews, and departures.
  3. Maintain physical and soft files for resettlement.
  4. Assist the Resettlement Officer to identify refugees in need of resettlement.
  5. Interview refugees for resettlement consideration and draft RRFs (Resettlement Registration Forms).
  6. Counsel and inform refugees about resettlement issues in general and their specific situation.
  7. Assist the Resettlement Officer to provide logistical support to and prepare for missions from resettlement countries.
  8. Generate statistical reports and ensure the maintenance of accurate resettlement statistics.
  9. Conduct all activities in accordance with UNHCR’s policy and procedures on resettlement, including UNHCR Thailand’s operational procedures for resettlement of Myanmar refugees and measures to combat resettlement fraud.
  10. Liaise with UNHCR units (Protection, Field and Program) and operational and implementing partners as necessary to achieve the resettlement objectives.
  11. Provide interpretation and translation as needed.
  12. Perform any other duties as required by the office and assigned by the supervisor.
Qualification Requirements
For Thai nationals only
Education and Skills:
Completion of secondary education is the minimum requirement. University courses or degree in related field will be an added advantage. Knowledge of computer and use of various computer software packages, such as MS Word, Excel, and Access. Prior experience working with UNHCR’s database is a plus. The candidate must be a team player, with good organizational skills, attention to detail, an ability to communicate across cultures, and prepared to work extensively in the field.
Experience:
Minimum two years experiences with refugees and or in related field.
Languages:
Good knowledge of written and spoken English and Thai, knowledge of Burmese or Karen is an asset.
