Senior Business Development Officer
Based in The Hague, Netherlands
We are now looking for a Senior Business Development Officer to support customer account management for multilateral and bilateral donors, international development banks and philanthropic foundations. The Senior BD Officer will report directly to the Head of Business Development and will work closely with the team of BD colleagues globally.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
The main responsibility of the Senior BD Officer will be to plan and lead the execution of SNV’s customer strategy for relevant global customer groups. Furthermore, the candidate will build, maintain and utilise networks with customers and relevant market parties, within SNV strategy, policies and procedures and in close cooperation with relevant colleagues from the sector.
Other responsibilities include:
  • Gather market intelligence to assist the development of BD strategies, opportunities, market trends and demands;
  • Assisting SNV countries to identify appropriate international partners for upcoming business development opportunities;
  • Steer on quality and consistency of submitted proposals in order to achieve the funding targets set and contribute to sustainability of SNV;
  • Proactively identify leads and opportunities for funding at global and multi-country level;
  • Coordinate and lead BD-related improvement projects.
CANDIDATE PROFILE
  • Post-graduate academic degree;
  • Proven track of relationship building and maintenance skills with customers/donors and other stakeholders;
  • At least five years of Business Development experience at a senior level within the international development sector;
  • Experience in developing donor strategies;
  • Strong track record in proposal development and secured funding;
  • Energetic, team player, service oriented;
  • Strong communicator and commercially driven;
  • Expertise in contract mediation and negotiation;
  • Content and practical experience in development cooperation in one of SNV’s sectors: Agriculture, Water, Sanitation and Hygiene or Renewable Energy would be an advantage;
  • Fluent English language skills (both spoken and written), mastery of French would be an advantage.
Proven experience with at least two of the following donor groups:
  • Dutch government (including funding modalities through Netherlands executing agencies such as AgentschapNL);
  • Multi-lateral institutions such as European Commission;
  • European bilateral agencies such as DFID, SIDA, DANIDA, NORAD, FINIDA;
  • International Development Banks;
  • Private foundations.
Desired start date: ASAP
Length of contract: 1 year with possibility of extension
