Eurasia Regional Coordinator , Publish What You Pay

Publish What You Pay seeks a Regional Coordinator to provide dedicated support to its affiliated national coalitions and members in the Eurasia region.

The primary remit of this position is to facilitate more frequent communications and information exchange between civil society groups working in the region, thereby consolidating the impact of national and regional advocacy work, and strengthening the sense of integration with the international campaign. Since Russian language is the lingua franca for most of these countries, and English is spoken in other countries of this region; excellent bi-lingual capabilities are essential for this position.

Another important focus of the position is to help primarily national coalitions as well as secondarily the PWYP International Secretariat access funding from either national, regional and/or international funding sources. As in line with Vision 20/20 and the roles of the International Secretariat the regional coordinator will seek joint fundraising opportunities with national coalitions thereby promoting and developing regional synergies and strategies for joint advocacy and campaigning work. Our long-term goal is for the post and region to be entirely self-funded.

The regional coordinator will report to the PWYP international secretariat (based in London), but will also need to work in close cooperation with the OSF national foundations, RWI Regional Office and Eurasia Extractive Industries Capacity Building Hub – to ensure complementarity, rather than duplication of the activities of strategic partners within the region.

Note: The location of the PWYP Regional Coordinator post is yet to be decided, but will need to be based centrally within the region in order to minimise travel times and time zone differences in working with PWYP members from other countries. The post will be hosted by a local organisation with whom the PWYP Secretariat will sign a ‘hosting’ contract.

Qualifications and Skills:

 - Familiarity with the global extractive industry transparency movement and with the basic structure / operations of the extractive industries and key players
 - Fluency in Russian and English; knowledge of additional languages spoken in the region is a strong plus
 - Knowledge of regional issues, plus experience working with civil society in the region.
 - Experience in fundraising with a proven track record of working with (international) donors
 - Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to communicate complex information both orally and in writing to a range of audiences
 - Proven organisational skills and ability to work under pressure
 - Negotiation skills and ability to find consensus within a diverse range of stakeholders
 - Experience in new media planning, website management (including basic HTML and experience using Content Management Systems)
 - Ability and willingness to travel for work in order to maintain close links with national coalitions
 - Ability to work independently and as part of a team
 - Advanced degree in a related field (e.g. development, communications, political science, finance, law, international relations) is desirable
