Job Description / Responsibilities:

South Asian Regional Initiative for Energy Integration SARI/EI program is to advance regional energy integration and increase cross-border energy trade in eight South Asian Countries (Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Bhutan, India, Pakistan, Nepal, Sri Lanka & Maldives). IRADe is implementing partner for fourth phase of SARI/Energy Integration (SARI/EI) program through a Co-operative Agreement with USAID. 

Task force Coordinator- Policy, legal and regulatory affairs will have to work on issues related to policies, grid codes, and load dispatch, legal and regulatory issues in South Asia Region. Key responsibilities include:

•    Plan a series of techno-economic analysis connecting task force themes viz. regulatory framework, transmission, planning and power markets
•    Carry out and guide rigorous analysis and prepare professional outputs
•    Recommend steady streams of analytical outputs with support of programme team for consensus building and knowledge sharing
•    Develop and maintain a constructive dialogue with different groups of stakeholders in the region and beyond; enable and support the appropriate dissemination of results for decision making
•    Coordinate task forces
•    Lead, guide and mentor younger staff to come up with steady streams of analytical outputs.
•    Prepare policy briefs covering power sectors for the South Asian countries

Personal Profile and Skills Required:

•    At least Masters Degree in engineering or economics or MBA with the understanding of power sector desired. Ph.D. will have an added advantage.
•    Minimum 12 years of experience in the relevant field is required. 
•    Consultancy experience in development field. 
•    Experience in working with multi lateral agencies of producing high quality outputs.
•    Experience in electricity regulation, transmission and power markets as well as familiarity with power systems of the South Asian countries.
•    Publications in reputed journals will be given extra weightage.
•    Must have interpersonal skills and sound technical knowledge.
•    Exceptional oral and written communication skills.

Remuneration: Will be commensurate with experience and expertise.

Note - Candidates will need to spend 90 days in India and devote another three months to the project on annual basis. Last date for receipt of applications is June 30, 2013.
