Assistant Institutional Funding Officer

Leprosy is a disabling disease affecting approximately 220.000 people per year. Netherlands Leprosy Relief (NLR/Leprastichting) is committed to a world without leprosy and general disability. NLR supports projects in leprosy control, prevention of general disability and rehabilitation. NLR also supports scientific research.

NLR is an efficient organization. At the head office in Amsterdam 20 people are working in three departments. In the 15 countries where NLR is active , 7 professional field offices, with about 150 staff in total, are responsible for the implementation of the programmes. The working budget of the organisation is some 10 million euro still largely obtained through private donations and legacies. This budget however is under pressure hence NLR is actively elaborating and enhancing Institutional Funding. This task has been entrusted to the Programmes Department.

To strengthen NLR’s efforts to generate income through Institutional Funding the Senior Institutional Funding Officer of the Programmes Department needs support. For this reason we urgently are looking for an:
Assistant Institutional Funding Officer (28 hrs/week)
Position
The Assistant Institutional Funding Officer will function under the direct guidance and coordination of the Senior Institutional Funding Officer. For his/her overall performance he/she will be answerable to the Head of the Programmes Department.

Major and detailed tasks
To contribute to the identification and mobilization of new sources of income and to the strengthening of the capacity of NLR and its field offices in Institutional Funding. To this purpose he/she will support the Senior Institutional Funding Officer in the following aspects:
- in identifying and screening relevant new IF opportunities, as they become available and make recommendations on these IF opportunities to the Senior Institutional Funding Officer;
- in advising the Project Department and Representative Offices on an appropriate administration and implementation of IF grants such in compliance with relevant IF donor regulations;
- in ensuring that all IF proposals, concept notes and reports are accurate, complete, internally consistent and meet IF donor requirements;
- in accurate and timely responding to various requests for information for IF donors and other relevant stakeholders, as required;
- in planning, monitoring and administrating of the corporate IF activities of NLR.
Requirements
Bachelor/Master degree in international law, international relations, development studies, economy, anthropology, or other related fields
- At least 2-3 years of relevant work experience, preferably in an international environment or with an INGO
- Basic knowledge of the complete project management cycle, experience in preparing IF project proposals and IF project reports is an advantage
- A flexible work attitude and the ability to meet strict deadlines
- A good eye for details and a capacity for multi-tasking
- Strong inter-personal and multi-cultural communication skills
- A willingness to learn and to develop new skills
- Good command of English, both oral and written. A proper command of Dutch or French will be an advantage
- Well developed computer skills (MS Office: Word, Excel, Outlook)
- Applicants must be Nationals of a European Union member State or have a valid work permit for the European Union
