Instructor (Research), General Surgery

Introduction
The Department of Surgery aims to provide the highest quality of surgical care to its patients in accordance with international norms of excellence. There are ten sub-specialty sections including Cardiothoracic Surgery, Dental-Oral, Maxillo-facial Surgery, General Surgery, Breast Diseases, Neurosurgery, Ophthalmology, Orthopaedic Surgery, Otolaryngology, Head and Neck Surgery, Paediatric Surgery, Plastic Surgery, Urology and Vascular Surgery.
A core mission is to integrate education and research with clinical services, entailing a full range of surgical treatments including cutting-edge techniques, minimally invasive surgery and state-of-the-art procedures.
Aga Khan University invites applications for the position of ​Instructor (Research), General Surgery.
Responsibilities
The appointee will be required to:
  • provide research and technical support to General Surgery faculty in clinical trials and developing grant proposals
  • initiate research activities, manage research projects and collaborate with other departments under the guidance of faculty
  • work  with current researchers on identifying and developing future research and funding initiatives as well as developing and managing current and future research administration.
Requirements
​Candidates should have:
  • an MBBS and Master’s degree in Epidemiology / Public Health or Clinical Research; preference will be given to those who are enrolled in a PhD programme
  • at least two years of related experience
  • competency in research methodologies
  • relevant computer and data analysis skills
  • the ability to transform data into information
  • possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
