SOS Children’s Villages Tanzania is an indigenous non government organisation affiliated to SOS Children’s Villages International, a worldwide child care organisation that provides orphaned and destitute children with a permanent home and educational opportunities. Established 60 years ago, SOS Children’s Villages International the umbrella organisation, currently has Children’s Villages and other projects in 133 countries around the world.  Globally, it runs two major programmes i.e Family Based Care based at SOS Children’s Villages and Family Strengthening Programmes supporting families in local communities. SOS has been working in the United Republic of Tanzania since 1991, and runs Children’s Villages and other projects in Tanzania, the organisation runs three Children’s Villages in Arusha, Dar es Salaam and Zanzibar and a Family Strengthening Programme in Mwanza and Pemba.

Job title: Fund Development Coordinator
Duty station: SOS Children’s Villages National Office (1post)
Reporting to: National Director
Scope:
The main aim of the Fund Development Coordinator (FDC) is to pursue opportunities of funds countrywide to cover the National Associations’ running costs and investments in order to increase the financial self-sufficiency of the National Association by planning and undertaking Fundraising activities target to public, corporate and private donors.

Roles & Responsibilities
Develop, implement and evaluate the fundraising strategy
Coordinate and manages the activities of fundraising within SOS-Tanzania.
Prepare and submit  the proposals for acquisition of the grants/funds within the following frames
Develop new and existing donor relationships in order to generate increased future income from in country donors
Build and develop a committed and effective fundraising team.

Academic Qualification, skills & Experiences:

A graduate on Public  relation and Mass Communication or related fields with at least 3 years’ experience of submitting successful funding proposals to government and multilaterals
Previous proven professional fundraising skills and experience for NGOs, CSOs, public or private sector
Experience of government donor relations and knowledge of funding requirements, particularly with donor agencies
Excellent ability to work cross-organizationally with multiple stakeholders in realization of shared goals
Able to share passion for and knowledge of donor engagement and grant acquisition strategies and techniques through training and/or mentoring
Proactive, inquisitive and tenacious in identifying and pursuing new grant funding opportunities
Good project management skills, able to work on multiple tasks and prioritize these to meet deadlines
Competent and experienced in forging partnership, brand development and visibility which will help to position SOS Children’s Villages Tanzania as a strong and consistent partner in responding to the needs of Most Vulnerable children in Tanzania.
Excellent communication, interpersonal and public relations skills.
Highest levels of accuracy and professionalism, flexibility to accommodate frequent travels

Job Title: Mothers/ Aunt
Duty station: Arusha (3)
Reporting to: Village Director

Scope

At the heart of the SOS family child-care model is the lasting and stable relationship between the SOS mother and the children entrusted to her care. In sharing her life and emotions with the children, the SOS mother builds a loving family where emotional wounds can heal and confidence is built. At the same time, the SOS mother is a child-care professional who is committed to the long-term care of children. She is the head of the SOS family and a caring parent to each of her children

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:

Ensure the well-being of the child through parenting
The mother is responsible for the management of her own home and the necessary domestic activity
Creates opportunities for the child to become more independent and responsible.
The mother develops the SOS family house into a warm, loving and secure home for the children entrusted to her care for the long term
Creates a nurturing family environment and supports the physical, emotional, intellectual, social and spiritual well-being of each child taking the child’s biological, social and cultural roots into consideration.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

Minimum of four years secondary school education
Should be single, unattached without strong family commitments and no young dependent children under age of 12years.
Any certificate relating to child Psychology and development, Child hood care from any recognized institution will be highly added advantage.
The highly competent and experienced mother in caring children with elementary education will be considered also.
Age limit ; 33 – 40 yrs

NOTE: This position requires the mother to stay in the SOS families in the SOS village full time.

Job title: Laboratory Technician
Duty station: Arusha (1 post)
Reporting to: The Dispensary Head

Main Responsibilities
Ensures Efficient Management of the Laboratory.
To Provide Health Awareness and Screening on HIV/AIDS to the SOS Village and the Surrounding Community.
The Lab. Technician will be responsible for equipment and instrument update and inventory and protection
He/she should be able to perform routine maintenance on equipment and quality control for all reagents
Lab Technician will coordinate the all lab result and lab activities
Perform, evaluate, and document quality control data and assure that patient results are not reported when quality control does not pass.

  Academic Qualifications and experiences.
Diploma in Laboratories Technician from any Government recognized institution
Should be well motivated and initiative.
At least two years working experience preferably with NGO busy environment
Training on HIV counseling is a must
Computer literacy

Job title: Registered Nurse Midwife
Duty station: Arusha (1 post)
Reporting to: The Village Director

Scope:
A nurse requires extensive, current knowledge of the symptoms and treatments of AIDS and HIV infections, the methods by which the virus is (and is not) transmitted and prevention measures. A broad knowledge of diverse cultural beliefs and attitudes is often necessary when working with diverse populations.

Roles & Responsibilities
Ability to build the capacity in the community in raising awareness on Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH)
Ensuring that patients receive appropriate clinical care during a clinic visit
With the support of Village Doctor examines and reports upon all children newly admitted to the SOS Children’s Village.  Advises the Village Director and SOS Mothers on treatment of malnourished of otherwise unhealthy children.
Educating patients in all aspects of HIV disease and treatment management, as well as basic healthy lifestyles.
Counseling and educating family members and care givers to promote secondary prevention of HIV infection, to improve the care of patients with HIV.

Academic Qualifications and experiences.
Diploma in Nursing, from any government recognized Institution
Must be registered with Nursing Council of Tanganyika
Experience in hospital nursing work for at least 3 years working with children and reproductive &Child Health,
Recently training on HIV counselling is a must and will be added advantage
Should be well motivated and initiative.
Computer literacy

Job title: School Cashier – (1 Post) & Dispensary  Cashier (1 post)
Duty station: Arusha
Reporting to: School Principle & Dispensary Head respectively

Scope:
Responsible for handling money and makes financial transactions in the projects setting.


Roles & Responsibilities
Receive and disburse money involving cash registers either by cash, check credit cards vouchers etc.
Issue receipts, refund, credit or change due to customers
Calculating total payment received during a time to time period and keep records and provide report on time
Compile and maintain non monetary reports and records.

Academic Qualifications:
Diploma in accounting from any government recognized institution
Able to work efficiently with minimum supervision.
Two year experience as cashier.
