Head of Business Integrity Programme

Transparency International (TI) is the global civil society organisation leading the fight against corruption. Through more than 100 chapters worldwide and an international secretariat in Berlin, Germany, TI raises awareness of the damaging effects of corruption and works with partners in government, business and civil society to develop and implement effective measures to tackle it.
The Business Integrity Programme supports the Transparency International global movement in three main areas. Firstly, by working to improve the behaviour of companies, e.g. by developing and promoting standards to advance anti-corruption and transparency practices. Secondly, by promoting and engaging in collective action with groups of companies and/ or industry sectors to promote transparency, integrity and accountability. Thirdly, by working to promote an environment which incentivises clean business practices (e.g. good regulatory environment, voluntary measures, and external pressure of stakeholders and / or public) both nationally and internationally.
Underpinning TI’s work in these areas are a number of important tools and research products, e.g. Business Principles for Countering Bribery, Transparency in Corporate Reporting. Reflecting the diverse roles of the International Secretariat, the Business Integrity Programme variously assumes the combined functions of support, coordination and leadership within the broader Transparency International movement around relevant issues.
The Head of the Business Integrity Programme will lead efforts to significantly scale up Transparency International’s work on business integrity. Building upon a strong existing base and significant ambition within the TI Movement the Head will harness untapped opportunities for impact and growth, especially in emerging markets.
The successful candidate will have a combination of both subject matter expertise (gained through relevant experience in the private sector and/or in an NGO focussing on private sector issues) and managerial/ organisational skills. An entrepreneurial, creative and opportunity-driven mind-set combined with a talent for working well across diverse teams, interests and countries will be critical to success in the position.
In addition to the Business Integrity Programme, Transparency International is engaged in a Financial Integrity Initiative, to which the Head of the Business Integrity Programme will contribute.
