IDEA CENTRAL SEEKS A NETWORK ASSOCIATE
IDEA Central Foundation is seeking to appoint a Network Associate, responsible for assisting the Executive Director and the Communications Manager with the IDEA Network's international activities. Reporting to the Executive Director of IDEA Central (based in Brussels) the Network Associate will support the Foundation’s daily work.
Areas of responsibility
1. Provide on-going administrative support to the Executive Director and the Communications Manager;
2. Undertake the day-to-day office management and financial administration of IDEA Central;
3. Be responsible for maintaining the filing system (physical and electronic), managing invoices and payments, sending and receiving mail, monitoring office supplies and IT equipment;
4. Organise Board meetings, including the preparation of documents for Board members and taking the minutes;
5. Assist the Executive Director in preparing reports for donors (narrative and financial);
6. Assist in managing the IDEA Network’s internal and external communications;
7. Other tasks as required by the Executive Director.
Requirements and qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in business management, business administration or related fields;
  •  A minimum of two years’ work experience, preferably in a similar role; understanding of, or willingness to learn about, the booking of basic accounting transactions, financial reporting and analysis.
  •  Self-starting; able to work independently; willingness to learn new skills and to adapt rapidly to new assignments; strong team player; ability to cultivate contacts and develop networks;
  •  Excellent communications skills (oral and written); excellent planning and organisational skills; ability to multi-task and prioritise; excellent analytical and research skills; excellent interpersonal skills;
  •  Proficiency in MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint;
  •  Experience of working in an international environment and willingness to travel internationally;
  •  Native or near-native English and French language written and oral skills; other languages would be an asset;
  • Willingness to master management software (eg, Basecamp), social media, website maintenance and multimedia.
Salary: Based in Brussels, the gross salary for this full time position will be €25,000 per year. Applicants will already have the right to work in the European Union.
Expected start date: November/December 2013
