Policy and Communications Officer

The International Federation of Actors (www.fia-actors.com) is recruiting a Policy and Communications Officer, a position based in its Brussels office. Job description:
The selected candidate will join FIA’s team in Brussels with direct responsibility for a certain number of policy and communications tasks:
Policy:
  • Full responsibility for the coordination of FIA’s Latin American Group: its meetings, projects and policy work, including applications and reporting to external funders.
  • Support and contribute to FIA’s policy work in relation to other European and global trade union development projects and other thematic projects.
  • Support and contribute to FIA’s policy and advocacy work at all levels on issues relating to audiovisual, culture and live performance, intellectual property rights, employment and social policies, as they affect performers.
  • Support and contribute to the preparation, organisation and follow-up of the meeting of FIA’s executive bodies (Presidium, Executive Committee and Congress).
Communications:
  • Develop and maintain the Federation’s website, keeping the news, information, event etc. sections up-to-date.
  • Oversee the compilation and sending of the Federation’s quarterly newsletter.
  • Regular contribution to communication and consultation with affiliates and with provision of assistance where appropriate, as issues arise.
  • Development of FIA’s press and social media presence and profile.
The selected candidate will work in close cooperation with the General Secretary and Deputy General Secretary in the FIA Secretariat.
Profile/main qualifications:
  • Experience of advocacy and policy work in an international environment is an important aspect of the profile for this post.
  • An understanding of trade union structures and commitment to their aims and objectives in order to be able to represent and advocate the views of workers is important. Experience in the sector is an asset.
  • Experience in relation to the audiovisual, live performance or cultural sector generally, is an asset.
  • Candidates must be fluent in English and French as the two official working languages of the Federation. Given the responsibility for FIA’s Latin American group that is part of this post, a very good level of Spanish, with solid communication and drafting ability, is also a key requirement.
  • Regular travel within Europe and to other continents will be necessary.
  • FIA is looking for a candidate who is keen to work as part of a small and dynamic team and open to a multicultural environment.
Remuneration:
  • Dependent on work experience;
