We bring together organisations from across the marketing communications sector work together to keep advertising high on the business agenda, encourage responsible practice and earn the continued confidence and trust of stakeholders.
Job Description:
We are recruiting a Regulatory Affairs Manager to join our policy and communications team. Based at the AA’s offices near Westminster, the job also involves regular visits to Brussels and managing a European policy exchange network (AIG - Advertising Information Group).
This is an exciting role for an energetic, motivated individual to be an integral part of a small but influential UK industry association. Working with senior industry stakeholders, associations and leading companies, you will help shape the industry’s policy and influence policy formulation in Westminster and Brussels on a wide range of advertising issues.
The candidate will help shape and deliver the AA’s engagement with members, government, trade bodies and policy makers and must be able to identify opportunities and risks, influence strategies, and deliver and implement policy.
Specific responsibilities include:
  • Manage specific policy areas including data protection, privacy, media convergence, gambling and financial services
  •  Draft speeches, briefings, presentations and external communications
  •  Draft consultation responses
  •  Work alongside communications to deliver policy-focused campaigns
  •  Build the AA’s reputation and relationships with companies/associations,
  •  Engage with member bodies and other organisations
  •  Keep member organisation informed about relevant legislative developments
  •  Represent the AA at meetings with MPs, MEPs, civil servants and other relevant stakeholders
  •  Represent the AA on industry committees
  •  Support the AA’s work in Brussels
Candidate Profile
Key skills:
  •  An interest in advertising and some knowledge of digital marketing regulatory issues
  •  An interest in and understanding of the British and European policy making process
  •  Initiative and drive
  •  Ability to understand complex issues fast
  •  Excellent interpersonal skills
  •  Good team player
  •  Exceptional communication skills, written and verbal
  •  Working knowledge of Office IT systems – Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook
Desired:
  •  Evidence of delivering and implementing policy and influencing strategies
  •  Proven regulatory/ public affairs experience working in a PA agency, in-house, in Whitehall or Parliament or EU institutions
