Health Policy Fellow , EUROPEAN SOCIETY OF CARDIOLOGY

The European Society of Cardiology (ESC) seeks applications for the position of a Health Policy Fellow for a two-year mission in Brussels.
The job objective is to devise and implement capacity building and research in the health economics, health policy and health management aspects of cardiology.
Background of the position
The European Society of Cardiology represents over 80,000 cardiology professionals from across Europe and broader. Its mission is to reduce the burden of cardiovascular disease in Europe. With its institutions and bodies provides an array of scientific and educational activities, such as the production and updating of clinical practice guidelines, educational initiatives, pan-European surveys on specific disease areas, prestigious congresses, publication of many of the world's leading journals on cardiology.
The ESC recently established in Brussels a European Heart Agency and in its context a Health Policy Unit, to build data bases, to undertake and disseminate research and to elaborate educational and related activities focusing on the economics, management and health policy issues of cardiology.
The Fellow will be an employee of this unit helping its establishment.
Specific tasks
In your role, you will:
  • Collect, collate, analyse and present data of the ESC member health care systems
  • Undertake research focused on health economics and policy issues in cardiology
  • Disseminate evidence on best, cost -effective and efficient practices in cardiology
  • Monitor, analyse and report relevant to cardiology health policy developments
  • Liaise and network with relevant external stakeholders & policy making institutions
  • Engage and support internal educational, survey and other relevant initiatives
  • Facilitate the participation to joint research programs with prestigious partners
  • Develop educational initiatives on the economics and management of cardiology
Skills specifications
  • Post graduate qualifications in the health economics, health policy, or related fields
  • Excellent knowledge of the European healthcare systems and policy trends
  • Ability to work with and reconcile the views of diverse organisations and individuals
  • Experience in designing, implementing and analyzing multi-country surveys
  • Administrative, computer, analytical, research, publication and presentation skills
  • Fluency in spoken and written English and preferably other European languages
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills including good editorial skills
  • Ability to take initiative, prioritise and work under set deadlines to meet objectives
  • Ability to function accurately and efficiently in a multi-task work environment
  • Ability to work independently and in a multinational multi-professional team
Profile and experience
  • 5 years work experience in relevant academic, policy, consulting or industry setting
  • Knowledge in the health policy, economics and management fields
  • Experience in research design, organisation, analysis and dissemination
  • Ability to consult and negotiate ‘buy in’, detail minded and well organized
  • Stress-resistant and multi-task oriented with international understanding
  • Capacity to interact and build relations with very diverse stakeholders
Contract details
Position based in Brussels
2-year contract, full time
Remuneration depending on candidate profile
