Development Geologist
Key Accountabilities
The development geologist will work in the Rio-based team charged with managing and conducting liaison with Petrobras and monitoring drilling and production operations.
• Anticipate and respond to opportunities for BG to steer Operator activity
• Key person for understanding the production geology of the super-giant Pre-Salt fields
• Represent BG position and seek to influence partners at technical committee meetings and workshops, review and assure plans presented by the operator and provide recommendations to management
• Monitor all development drilling activity in areas of responsibility working with well engineering to ensure that wells are located, drilled and data acquired as specified by the JV and liaising with the operator when changes occur.
• Recommends projects for the TVP-based team; carries out own projects directed towards maximising BG value in the field developments and defining the risk and uncertainty in development and production
• Integrate large and diverse datasets to optimise development decisions
• Provide feedback to reservoir modelling group on model performance
• Work in an integrated team of engineers and geoscientists
• The Geologist will be an active participant in Knowledge Sharing through the relevant BG Connect Communities and SharePoint resources
• The Geologist will maintain a wide knowledge of reservoir geoscience and contiguous petroleum engineering disciplines
• Oversee Subsurface Database Management in functional area
People Management
• The incumbent must adhere to the annual HR cycle and meet deadlines within the appropriate timeframes
HSSE

Unique Knowledge, Skills, Experience and Attribute
Experience Needed:
• MSc or equivalent qualification in Geoscience
• Good production and reservoir geoscience experience, particularly with oil; waterflood experience an advantage; BG VAF, reserves and Business Planning; experience of applied and integrated reservoir modelling and field development planning

Knowledge, Languages, Skills and Attributes:
• Have excellent problem-solving abilities and a good eye for detail
• Good knowledge of Petrel would be highly advantageous.
• Good communication skills and able to work effectively across different cultures: willing and eager to learn Portuguese
• Have excellent team working skills, as well as an ability to interface effectively with other subsurface disciplines and external contractors
• Excellent presentation skills and clear and convincing report writing ability
• Be able to produce work of a high standard, generating holistic and technically sound geological interpretations whilst under time-pressure, that can be defended in peer reviews, and to partners and external auditors
• Needs to be self aware and able to grow and extend their influence at all levels, with both internal and external stakeholders
• Able to proactively manage their own professional development, in consultation with their Line and Parent Manager
• Computer literate
• Good knowledge of Petrel would be highly advantageous.
• Good communication skills and able to work effectively across different cultures: willing and eager to learn Portuguese
• Have excellent team working skills, as well as an ability to interface effectively with other subsurface disciplines and external contractors
