Temporary – Special Project Coordinator - Conventions
Exciting short-term opportunity for dynamic policy professional with a passion for people and nature. Help WWF build a sustainable future by providing strategic advocacy work for the WWF Network. You will be a part of a small team helping to organise knowledge management and logistics focussing on political, economic, foreign policy and associated issues to support WWF’s policy priorities.
Location/Contract Details:
WWF office in Gland, Switzerland. This is a fixed-term 4 months contract.Main responsibilities:
- Coordinate work relating to UNESCO World Heritage and other conventions to engage in appropriate manner with policy makers, provide political radar function;
- Liaise with officials as needed in the context of identified international environmental negotiations and WWF priorities;
- Liaise with WWF Network as needed to identify priority policy elements to support content in identified fora and processes;
- Help network colleagues engage with policy makers within identified fora and processes;
- Translate information from official outcomes and informal consultations into relevant action:;
- Draft briefs that are detailed, reliable and informative upon request;
- Other activities as requested by Manager, Global and Regional Policy.
What you need:
Required Qualifications, Skills and Competencies- Masters degree or equivalent work experience in International affairs, economics and foreign policy or related work experience;
- Experience working for an international organisation in multicultural environment;
- Deep understanding of geopolitical issues, trends and developments;
- Sound knowledge and understanding of relationships between environment, economy and social issues in relation to development;
- Capacity to work rapidly and accurately under pressure and to quickly define and adhere to priorities;
- Strong internal and external networking skills.
- Ability and enthusiasm in implementing short term but demanding tasks;
- Analytical skills and accuracy in reporting;
- Strong diplomatic skills; discretion;
- Capacity to work independently in an intense team environment;
- Excellent organisational and people skills;
- Fluency in English, other languages an advantage;
- Highly computer literate, competent in use of spreadsheets and other electronic tools;
- Adheres to WWF’s values, which are: Knowledgeable, Optimistic, Determined and Engaging.
